We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve our grocery delivery service. Below is a detailed breakdown of the data we collect:

Mobile Number

Your mobile number is used for login via OTP (One-Time Password) verification, account identification, and communication regarding your orders. This is the primary identifier for your account. We do not collect email addresses — our login system is entirely mobile-number-based.

User Addresses

Delivery addresses saved by you are stored for quick checkout and accurate delivery. You can add, edit, or delete your saved addresses at any time from the app.

Order History

Records of your past orders are maintained for reordering convenience, order tracking, and customer support purposes. This includes items ordered, quantities, prices, and delivery details.

Invoices & Payment Records

Transaction history and invoices generated for each order are stored for your records and for compliance with applicable tax and financial regulations. Payment processing is handled by secure third-party payment gateways.

Device Information

We collect basic device information such as device model, operating system version, and app version for performance optimization, crash reporting, and ensuring compatibility with your device.

Location Data

Location data is collected only during active sessions (when you are using the app) to determine delivery availability in your area and to estimate accurate delivery times. We do not track your location in the background.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely for the following purposes:

To create and manage your account
To process, deliver, and manage your orders
To communicate order updates and delivery status
To provide customer support and resolve disputes
To improve our services, app performance, and user experience
To comply with legal and regulatory requirements

3. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

We may share limited data with the following categories of service providers who assist us in operating our platform:

Payment Gateways: For secure processing of online payments (e.g., Razorpay, PhonePe)
Analytics Services: For understanding app usage patterns and improving our service (e.g., Firebase Analytics)
Cloud Hosting: For secure data storage and app infrastructure

All third-party service providers are bound by confidentiality agreements and are prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than providing services to us.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Order history and invoice data may be retained for up to 5 years to comply with tax and legal requirements. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted data transmission (SSL/TLS), secure data storage, access controls, and regular security audits. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6a. Account Deletion

We believe you should have full control over your data. You can delete youreBasket account and all associated personal data using either of the following methods:

Option 1: Delete from the App (Self-Service)

Open the eBasket app, go to your Profile screen, and select "Delete Account". Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm. Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted. This action is irreversible.

Option 2: Request Deletion via Email

If you are unable to delete your account from the app, you can send a deletion request to support@ebasket.in from the mobile number associated with your account, or include your registered mobile number in the email. We will verify your identity and process the deletion within 30 days of receiving your request.

Please note: Upon account deletion, all your personal data — including saved addresses, order history, and payment records — will be permanently removed from our active systems. Certain data may be retained for up to 90 days in encrypted backups before being fully purged. Data required for legal, tax, or regulatory compliance may be retained as mandated by law.

7. Cookies & Tracking

Our mobile application does not use browser cookies. We may use mobile analytics SDKs to collect anonymized usage data for improving app performance and user experience. You can opt out of analytics data collection through your device settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

9. Legal Compliance

This privacy policy is drafted in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) of India. We are committed to complying with all applicable data protection laws and regulations.
